Mashad (Mashhad) is a city in Persia. The wool used by the rug-makers of Mashad rugs are known for its beauty and their quality. Mashad rugs remain very desirable in the Persian rug industry today, even centuries after they were first woven. These rugs tend to possess a certain softness cotton foundation; the wool pile used in Mashad rugs is amongst the best. Most of the Mashad rugs are large although it is possible to find designs of any size.
This is a genuine hand knotted cut pile rug, not tufted, hooked, or machine made. All we do is hand knotted.
